Dear friends,
I am happy to be able to invite you to our next International Conference which will take place this year on 14, 15 and 16 June and which is entitled:
“Connecting people: Victims, Offenders and Communities in Restorative Justice”.
The conference will take place in Helsinki (Finland), in the university building on the beautiful Senate Square, right in the city center of Helsinki.
More information on the theme of this 7th International Conference of the Forum can be found on our website at the following link.
Through this Newsflash I would like to give you more information on the programme, registration, workshop presentations and accommodation.
Programme
The preliminary programme of the conference can be found here (please note that this is not a final programme yet and things, such as timing, can still change). After having Howard Zehr in our previous conference we have again been able to attract some big names in the field and we are very honored to have Ezzat Fattah and Nils Christie as plenary speakers at our conference!
Also, we are very honored to have opening speeches by Viviane Reding, Vice President of the European Commission, Anna-Maja Henriksson, the Finnish Ministry of Justice and Maria Guzenina-Richardson, the Finnish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.
The conference dinners of the European Forum are starting to become a tradition and this year we will have dinner on Friday evening in the very nice restaurant Katsomo.
On Saturday afternoon we have again planned a social event. This time it will be a boat trip to the beautiful island Suomenlinna Fortress where you can participate in a guided tour and where lunch will be offered.
Unlike previous years, we are now offering a welcome reception for the participants in the conference. This reception will be offered on Wednesday evening (after the Annual General Meeting) at the conference venue.
Registration
If you want to register for the conference, please fill out the registration form and send it back to me as instructed on the form. (The registration fee includes entrance, conference materials, 5 coffee breaks and 2 lunches).
People can also apply for a waiver (This means free entrance to the conference, but the Forum will not pay for travel and/or accommodation costs).
More information can be found on the waiver application form.
Workshop presentations
We invite people to hold workshops on the 3 themes of the conference: Victims, Offenders and Community (all linked to restorative justice).
Workshops on other themes can be accepted as well, but priority will be given to those workshops dealing with the conference-themes.
If you are interested in giving a workshop, please follow the instructions in the call for workshop presentations .
Deadline for handing in proposals is 29 February 2012.
Accommodation
Block reservations have been made in some hotels close to the conference venue. If you want to make a reservation in one of the hotels, you have to contact the hotel yourself, the Forum will not do this. More information on these hotels can be found in this document which contains an overview of the hotels where the block reservations have been made. Of course you are also free to make a reservation in a hotel which is not on the list.
Please feel free to forward this email to people you think could be interested in attending the conference.
I hope to see many of you next year in Helsinki!

Best wishes,
